Day #1 Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM), a private transfer will be arranged to take you to your hotel. Local representative will meet you and have a full pre-climb briefing in the evening.

Day #2 Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding

An early morning transfer takes you to the airport for the scenic mountain flight to Lukla, one of the world's most iconic airstrips. Upon arrival in the capital, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free to rest, refresh, or explore the city at leisure. Day #16 Contingency Day in Kathmandu

This day is reserved as a contingency to accommodate any weather-related delays or logistical adjustments during the trek. It provides essential flexibility, ensuring safety and smooth coordination in the high mountains. Having this buffer allows the itinerary to adapt without rushing critical stages. Your expedition leader will review any required changes if needed. When unused, this day becomes an added opportunity to enjoy Kathmandu.

If the contingency day is free, you may explore the city's rich cultural heritage at a relaxed pace. Optional visits include UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, or Durbar Square. Alternatively, enjoy a restful day at the hotel or indulge in local cuisine. This downtime offers a gentle transition from the mountains back to urban life. It is a perfect moment to reflect on the journey.

After breakfast, preparations are made for your onward journey home. You will be transferred from the hotel to Tribhuvan International Airport with assistance from the ground team. The expedition team ensures a seamless departure experience.

Health
  • Please consult with us if you have any medical conditions such as asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, or any heart-related issues before enrolling for the trip.
  • Diamox is typically used for higher altitude treks to minimize the impact of altitude sickness. Please consult your licensed medical practitioner for the prescription.
  • This trip is a high-altitude trek and the maximum height reached will be approx. 18,519 ft / 5,644 m. Exposure to high altitudes may cause Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
  • The minimum required oxygen saturation (SpO2) for climbing at peak altitude is 80%. If your SpO2 falls below this level, you will be closely monitored. Should it fail to return to at least 80%, an immediate descent will be necessary.

Tipping Guidelines
  • Tipping your climbing crew is a well-established practice in mountain hiking all over the world. Though never mandatory, clients are encouraged to tip their mountain crews if their performance is up to your expectations. A recommended amount is USD 125-150 per participant.
